Les Plus Beaux Villages : Minerve

Surrounded by deep gorges carved by the confluence of the Brian and Cesse rivers, set at the end of a limestone plateau, Minerve is a mineral village in the heart of the Languedoc garrigue. Former Cathar bastion destroyed by Simon de Monfort in 1210, the village keeps a stele from this period in memory of a Cathar pyre. Minerve is also known and recognized for its wine produced for centuries by its winegrowers.
